HD-DVD versus Blu-ray

Technological developments have enhanced the use of various approaches to the distribution of multimedia products. The DVD has been instrumental in the distribution of digital products. The two technologies that were widely used were the High Definition DVD (HD DVD) and the Blu-ray DVD. These technologies competed widely for consumer acceptance. Nevertheless, they present several similarities that make it difficult to pick a favorite at first glance. The two formats were produced by different companies with Sony supporting the Blu-ray and Toshiba the HD DVD (Cozzarin, Lee, & Koo, 2012).
