In 1969, Edgar Codd the IBM researcher recommended the relational database (Hernandez, 2013). However, the relational database has become the leading database model for commercial applications in comparison with other models such as network, hierarchical, and object models. Hence, data handling and storage remain essential for processor use. The way information is structured can have a great influence on how easily it can be accessed. However, the useful technique to organize data is to accumulate it in tables. Therefore, the relational model is based on this notion.
When symbols are organized and structured into a group of families or two-dimensional tables, then this referred to as a relational model (Churcher, 2012). A relational file classifies records in tables or relations that consist of a row also called a record and column also known as a field. There exists a relationship between a database table and worksheet. In particular, the connections generated between the tables allow a relational database to accumulate efficiently massive quantity of information and successfully retrieve accurate data.
Financial and bookkeeping sectors manage mainly financial assets of a business, and hence the relational database remains significant to the company (Courtney, Paradice, Brewer, & Graham, 2010). The database enables sharing of a large amount of information in a large organization such as a bank. One of its advantages is that the massive data kept by the companies can frequently be accessed, validated, and stored independently, for example, files for sales order and files for sales book. Additionally, it increases data reliability; in this case, in a shared setting, it remains critical to the achievement of the record structure to regulate the formation, erasure, update of data, and to certify its accuracy and current state. Retrieving the records will also be easier since the data control features of the database management scheme will handle this.
