Who Is Picking up the Puffed Rice?

Consumer behavior is the behavior exhibited by consumers when purchasing, using, evaluating and disposing of products and services that they use to satisfy their needs. According to Shih, Yu, and Tseng (2015), consumers have different needs and wants, are unique and have different behavior and consumption patterns. Globally, consumers make purchasing decisions every day, thus, there is the necessity for marketers to develop ways of ensuring that the desires of the customers are met. The paper investigates the different behavior of clients in the Kroger Company, one of the leading grocery stores in my area. It is one of the biggest firms in the United States. The company operates in 34 states with various store formats such as the grocery stores, multi-department stores, convenience stores and jewelry stores. The Kroger Company operates many food processing plants in the United States, and its products are known in all parts of the world.

For an analysis of consumer behavior to be conducted, I visited the Kroger Grocery Store in Landen Square, Manville, Ohio, where I reside.  I chose this store because it is visited by many people from my area; thus, it would be a perfect place to observe various behavior displayed by the customers when shopping for goods. I attended the store twice. The first visit took place on a Wednesday while the second visit took place on a Saturday. I chose the two days because I needed to see how the customers behaved during the weekday when most of the individuals were out working and during the weekend when people flock grocery stores to grab the things they need for the week.  The Wednesday visit took place between 12 pm and 2 pm while the Saturday visit took place between 4 pm and 6 pm. As I observed, during the weekdays, the services at the grocery were slow, and the customers were very few. However, during the weekend, the store was visited by many people, thus, making the services faster than during the weekdays…
